ESPN Dustin Pedroia Sandwich Commercial

ESPN rarely disappoints me with their commercials and this time they delivered a homerun. Well if we are being literal, then a triple. Boston is awesome, we know this, so the fact that ESPN chose a Deli scene debating what kind of sandwich to call "The Pedroia" is perfect. One of the first memories I have of being in Boston is at a deli where the lady asked one of my family members what he wanted on his sub and he said "slide it through the gaaahhden". Then I walked outside and found myself in the middle of an Irish mob and police shoot out with people praying and guys yelling at each other that they were snitches so I ran off and the safest place closest to me was MIT. I decided to stay there until the heat died down. There was nothing to do at an empty school so I just solved all the math problems that I saw on a board instead of sitting there doing nothing. That quickly got boring so then I went to the Red Sox game and met Drew Barrymore.

Red Sox Sign Adrian Gonzalez for 7 years-$154 million

That headline should read: Red Sox Suck and They Love to Waste Money.

Well thats not true cause Gonzo is without a doubt a top-5 first baseman but I just hate the Red Sox right now. Both Billy Blog and I are die-hard Sawx fans and right now we are dying hard. After what might be the best offseason ever, the Sox are looking as bad as Lindsay Lohan's chances of staying out of jail. They can't hit when their pitching does well and they can't pitch when they're hitting does well. Basically they suck and I won't be surprised at all if they finish 13-149.


Anyways, the Sox signed Gonzo to a 7 year, 154 million dollar contract. Gonzalez receives a $6 million signing bonus, $21 million per year from 2012-16 and $21.5 million per year in 2017 and 2018.The contract also possess a partial no-trade clause. Hopefully this will inspire the Sox to quit sucking dick and start winning some games.

John Krasinski and Alec Baldwin in Red Sox vs. Yankees New Era Commercial

The Red Sox might be 0-6 but their home opener is today and it's against the Yankees. New Era has a brand new marketing campaign of commercials featuring die-hard fans John Krasinski (Red Sox) and Alec Baldwin (Yankees) talking trash to each other. NBC 12 says:

New Era unveiled its 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) marketing campaign celebrating epic rivalries and team pride. The campaign features 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin and The Office's John Krasinski in a series of commercials where they demonstrate the true meaning of team rivalry.

In the TV spots, which will begin airing on April 8th, Alec Baldwin, an avid Yankees fan, and John Krasinski, a passionate Red Sox fan, exchange some friendly back and forth trash-talking about each other's teams.

"We've created a campaign that celebrates the most talked about aspect of Major League Baseball – the rivalry," said Christopher H. Koch, CEO. "And we've taken one of baseball's most recognizable rivalries and used it as a catalyst to inspire fans everywhere."

The tagline, "Rivals Are Forever," is part of the TV, social media, in-stadium and retail campaign promoting the brand's Authentic Collection (AC) on-field cap. In-store, ads pay homage to other great baseball rivalries including the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.

The series spots will run during Yankees/Red Sox games throughout the season on ESPN, FOX, YES Network and NESN. Cable channels including Comedy Central, Adult Swim, Spike, FX, SNY and others will also participate.

Well this wouldn't be a successful marketing campaign without Adult Swim participating. The commercial is pretty awesome though and I can't wait for more. "Fire doesn't have a rivalry with kindling." Classic.

Class Sucks

So I'm going to blog to tell you about it. For some reason I'm not sitting at my house, hammered on the couch watching the Masters highlights. For some reason I'm not sitting at my house, stoned on the couch playing XBOX. For some reason I'm sitting in a dumb ass class not doing anything. Class blows, blows, blows and blows.

The Red Sox are 0-6. Fuckin comin' on for fucks sake! I know it is six games in and I shouldn't be too worried but really? We get shut-out by the Indians with probably the most prolific offense in baseball?

At least Tiger isn't blowing the Masters like his bitches were blowing him. He's one under at the end of day one and will hopefully make a hell of a come back to win. And then he'll start fucking mad chicks again. Ya know, kinda like I do.

Red Sox Nation Ready For Opening Day

Watching the Sox-Phillies Spring Training game this afternoon got my dick harder than those Kim Kardashian pictures a couple posts down. I love baseball more than anything else in the world so knowing it's so close make me as happy as a little asian girl in a Hello Kitty store. It also helps that the Red Sox had one of the best offseasons ever (adding Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez) and come into the season as favorites to represent the American League in the Fall Classic.

The Red Sox finished 89-73 and 7 games behind AL East winners the Tampa Bay Rays and 1 gameb back of the Yankees. It’s unfortunate because of the fact that many teams would kill for a record like that, but for an organization with a payroll and following like the Red Sox? It isn’t enough.


Many, including myself, were worried my God (Theo Epstein, Red Sox GM) would take the summer slow, maybe improve the bullpen but nothing too big. Why should they? Without all the injuries the Red Sox certainly would have been closer to the playoffs and certainly they’ll go into next year with a similar lineup.

Not even close. The Red Sox made HUGE signings in Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez as well as picking up important bullpen pieces like Bobby Jenks, Matt Albers and Dan Wheeler. The different line up possibilities are out the roof and if the pitching performs as it should, the Sox should be a force to reckon with.


The most important parts of the team shouldn’t be the new players coming in, but instead the returning pieces. A fully healthy Pedroia, Ellsbury and Youkilis should be enough to see the Red Sox return to dominance, but the new additions make them a scary team. A perfect lineup would be having

1) Pedroia
2) Crawford
3) Youkilis
4) Gonzalez
5) Ortiz
6) Drew
7) Saltalamacchia
8) Lowrie/Scutaro
9) Ellsbury

This gives your four best hitters a chance at a fifth AB later in the game. With the game on the line you’d rather have Pedroia at the plate than Ellsbury. With that being said, batting Ellsbury ninth would basically give you another leadoff hitter. He would be hitting in front of Pedroia as the lineup turns over from 9-1.

Another huge factor of the Sox will be their speed on the base paths. While it may seem crazy, a combined 120 stolen bases between Crawford and Ellsbury isn’t too crazy. Depending on how aggressive Francona plays, expect to see both players a constant threat to steal.

Keep an eye on Gonzalez and his numbers. He’s leaving one of the most pitcher-friendly ballparks in Petco Park and entering one of the most hitter-friendly in Fenway. He's an excellent opposite field hitter so Gonzo should be able to belt doubles against the Green Monster. A Triple Crown? Alright maybe I’m getting ahead of myself but expect big numbers.


It seems everything will come down to the pitching of the Sox. While Lester and Buchholz both emerged as first class pitchers, the drop off of Beckett and Lackey caused a lot of concern. It seems Lackey realized how much harder it is to pitch in the AL East than the AL West. He seemed to calm down and utilize his fastball much better later in the season so expect him to perform much better. Beckett comes off the most disappointing season for him in a Red Sox uniform. A positive for Sox fans is after Beckett’s very lackluster first season, he entered the 2006 offseason with a point to prove. He worked harder than ever in the offseason and came back ready to pitch in 2007. Many people are saying Beckett had that same work ethic in this offseason so a rebound year may not be out of the question.

It's obvious the AL East is the most competitive of baseball divisions and the additions to the Red Sox will only add to that. The Yankees are still the Yankees and will continue to win games. The Rays, despite losing Crawford, Pena, Garza, Soriano and Bartlett have the young talent combined with the additions of Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez to continue to win. The Blue Jays are getting stronger. The Orioles, after a 66-96 season, added Vladimir Guerrero, Mark Reynolds, Derrek Lee, Justin Duchscherer and Kevin Gregg. I wouldn't be surprised to see this division win more games than it did in 2010.

Kevin Youkilis Out For the Season

If there was a World Series for just the disabled list, you'd be quite dumb to bet against the Red Sox. Yooooooooooooooooouk will join the walking wounded after being ruled out for the rest of the season today to under go surgery on his right thumb. He will join Pedroia, Mike Cameron, and Jason Varitek on the DL, but unfortunately just missed spending time with Beckett, Martinez, Buchholz and Ellsbury. Mike Lowell will pick up some time on 1B, also having Martinez play there and Kevin Cash behind the plate.


This is probably a good move for the Sox because it seems this season is quickly getting our of their reach. With the Yankees and Rays both playing great baseball, planning for next season might not be a terrible idea.

A couple things to note here is that I'm obviously picking very easy games, and only took the moneyline to improve my record early on. I'm trying to sneak this by you. Also, you'll quickly find that I'm both better at picking baseball games and sexier than Billy Blog Thornton.
